PAT Testing In Bedford, Luton, Dunstable, Sandy, Biggleswade, Flitwick & All Bedfordshire From Just £0.54p Per Item
Health and Safety at work Act 1974 and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 say that you are required to ensure that all electrical items are safe and in good order. Portable appliance testing ( PAT ) can help you do this.
PAT Testing ( Portable Appliance Testing ) requires a thorough visual inspection of the portable appliance to check for the following:
- Damage to the cable/Flex
- Damage to the plug and casing
- Incorrectly wired plug
- Incorrectly rated fuse
A series of electrical tests are then performed with a PAT tester. Depending upon the class of equipment tests may include:
- Earth Bond Test
- Insulation Resistance Test
- Cable Polarity Test
- Earth Leakage Test
- Load Test
- Touch Leakage Test
- Item Function Test
All appliances are then labelled with the result of the test (pass or fail) and the date of the test/next test. Any remedial action that can be taken during testing (replacing plugs/fuses and other small repairs ) will be carried out and re-tested at the time at free-of-charge. More complex faults or damage are reported to the business manager.
